    Since the 100T supports the industries broadest range of tape drives and libraries, there is no need to re-engineer the backup process by converting to a file based backup or changing tape drive and library targets.

    Disk based backup and optional 4 GB/s Fibre channel connectivity combine to greatly accelerate the backup process. Remote Office Backup Optimization

In conjunction with COPAN Systems' Revolution 300T/TX, the 100T Remote Office VTL provides a robust remote backup and replication solution.
  • Reduce storage costs with data deduplication
    In any organization, redundant data in documents, emails, databases, and so on can consume vast amounts of storage space. When organizations use a typical backup-to-disk solution to back up the same servers week after week, they retain multiple copies of duplicate data.

    COPAN Systems’ VTL products provide integrated data deduplication to eliminate redundant data. After data is backed-up, the built-in data deduplication engine scans for blocks that have been previously backed-up and preserves only one instance of each block, reducing the storage capacity consumed. This enables the fastest and highest performance backup while greatly reducing storage costs.

  • Tape Format Aware
    By understanding the tape format, the 100T can identify file boundaries and thus better recognize duplicate data, increasing deduplication efficiency by more than 30%. It deduplicates all of the redundant data within a backup volume and across multiple backups.

  • Global deduplication enhances DR efficiency and speed
    COPAN Systems’ 100T enables remote replication for disaster recovery (DR) through an existing WAN. By replacing traditional manual transportation with network transfer and data encryption, the COPAN Systems’ 100T lowers tape management costs and the risks of data loss. In the process of remote replication, only unique data blocks
    are replicated to the remote site, reducing network traffic by as much as 95% based on a 15:1 deduplication ratio.

    To reduce tape infrastructure costs, many organizations consolidate data from various distributed sites to a central data center. COPAN 100T supports both one-to-one replication and many-to-one replication configurations to enable tape infrastructure consolidation at a centralized data site. With the COPAN Systems’ 100T deployed at
    each site, virtual tapes can be replicated via WAN to the data center, where 300T VTL aggregates the data into a central repository of globally unique data.

    At each site, a COPAN Systems’ 100T performs deduplication by checking if the same data blocks exist at the data center, replicating only unique data. Since identical data often exists at multiple sites, the 100T offers global deduplication to further reduce network traffic and DR costs. Once data is at the data center, the 300T can migrate it to physical tape for archival or compliance purposes.
